Elderly Project

We have over 15 years experience of working with the community and have therefore an invaluable insight into their specific cultural needs. Our consultation with users has highlighted the need to provide culturally specific holisitic health care for elderly users due to high levels of deprivation, isolation, physical and mental health and language needs. For this reason project proposed is able to improve the health, integration and reduce social isolation among Vietnamese and Chinese elders age 60 plus by:


  • Continuing and expand our current elders luncheon club services and develop new health and social support services for the group such as health advice workshops, information sessions on a variety of health and social issues and talks from our health partners on a variety of health topics.
  • Provide basic I.T support to assist users with business and adminstration skills.
  • Work with agencies, including Colleges,Training providers and Job Centre Plus to provide advice on job search and accessing relevant training skills. The project will: improve self-confidence to function effectively and independently, provide language support to access services • increase motivation to access other schemes impacting on integration and participate more in society which impacts on wellbeing, broadening horizons and experience • improve access to information regarding related training resources thus improving opportunities
  • enhance life-skills which will assist in facilitating successful integration by helping to promote self-confidence, well-being and contributing to community cohesion.
